WordPress Community

I try to be as active in the WordPress community as time will allow. I am firm believer in giving back to the community. Sharing knowledge and empowering others with the power of WordPress.

In 2014 I setup the WordPress Belfast Meetup. The local community has now grown to around 300 members. However, since the global pandemic we have not managed to have any in-person Meetups sadly.

During 2016, I was lead organiser for the first ever WordCamp to take place within Northern Ireland, and first ever official WordCamp on the island of Ireland. WordCamp Belfast 2016 brought together 155 local, national and international speakers, sponsors, volunteers and WordPress users.

During 2017, I was co-organiser for the first WordCamp in Dublin, which was attended by 243 WordPress users. And in 2018 I was once again lead organiser for the second WordCamp Belfast.

WordCamp Dublin also returned in October 2019, when I was once again co-organiser.

I have also spoken and volunteered at a number of WordCamps. These included WordCamp London 2016, Edinburgh 2016 and 2017, and also WordCamp Europe in Vienna in 2016, and Paris in 2017.

Throughout the later part of 2021, I completed various tasks and stages in order to qualify to be listed on Codeable.io as one of their qualified experts.

The tasks included a time-limited site development project, working from a mock-up image. The resulting site design had to be pixel perfect in order to progress to the next stages in their enrolment process.

Other stages in the process included live video calls & interviews. These involved answering code questions, and completing tasks during the live call.

Having gone through the process, it is not hard to see why only 2% of all applicants successfully complete and qualify to be listed as a Codeable Expert.
