Mark Smallman of MacGraphic has developed a vast background and experience in the design and print industry over the past 20years. Mark was also in the photographic industry for eleven years prior to moving to the design & print industry.
Sometime around 1995, while working at Jessops in Belfast, Marks interest in digital photography was sparked by a delivery of ‘Adobe Photoshop’. This quickly led to Mark honing his skills in all things digital. Combining his background and experience in photography with his love of technology and computers.
Following on from this, Mark quickly picked up an interest in all forms of digital design. From image manipulation in Photoshop to DTP (desktop publishing) in PageMaker. And then moving on to using Illustrator, Quark XPress, and InDesign.
This then led Mark into the world of desktop publishing and graphic design. He started working in the print industry in 1998, at a print factory called ‘TextFlow’, in Belfast.
From there, Marks experience has further developed, with a number of roles within the design industry. These included print-finisher, pre-press operator & manager, digital press operator, designer and then onto senior designer roles within a newspaper and magazine publisher.
